PARTY FOR HALLOWEEN / ALL SOUL'S EVE

Monday, October 31, 2005 is our annual party for Halloween / All Soul's Eve! The party will be at our usual daily meeting time, adjusted for the change for Daylight Saving Time which takes place the day before (Sunday, Oct. 30). Note: outside of the Americas, the party will occur on Tuesday because of the different time zones.

Come to the party! And please choose a special identity to appear as and pick your costume, i.e. nickname, for the occasion. IRC will allow you to pick a nickname up to 12 characters long. Keep in mind, some names will be popular and may already be taken, so think of several alternatives so that you can use at least one of your choices.

THE TIME CHANGE ON SUNDAY, OCT. 30th

As of Sunday, Oct. 30 in the Americas (and Monday Oct. 31 elsewhere), our regular meeting times -- and thus also the time for our Halloween party -- will accord with the change in Daylight Saving Time (DST). For Northern Hemisphere residents who observe Daylight Saving Time, all you need do is move your clock one hour BACK and then show up at the usual time according to your changed clock.

The meeting time will change in areas where Daylight Saving Time is never observed, i.e. for Saskatchewan, Arizona, Hawaii and most of Indiana, as well as for Western Australia and Queensland. People in these regions should meet us an hour later than they usually do. See the chart below.

For most people Down Under, whose peoples are changing to summertime DST (move your clocks FORWARD) at the same time that Northern Hemisphere people are setting summertime hours aside, we need to change our listed meeting time to TWO HOURS LATER in order to accomodate the convenience of the majority of our participants, who are living in the Northern Hemisphere.
